The Sunday Challenge: wabi-sabi Achter deze muur bevond zich tot enkele jaren geleden een scheepswerf. Tegenwoordig is de werf in gebruik als ruimte om haven voor kleinere huurboten. De meeste graffiti op deze muur dateert uit 2016 of eerder, en voor graffiti is dat zeer oud. Nowadays, the shipyard is used as a harbour for smaller rental boats. Most of the graffiti on this wall dates from 2016 or earlier, and that is extreme old for graffiti. Saturday Self Challenge: Uit de tuin De stokroos is in Nederland van oorsprong een tuinplant, maar door zijn populariteit en een warmer wordend klimaat is deze soort de laatste 20 jaar aan het verwilderen en groeit op veel plekken tussen stoep en muur. Hier staat een paarsrode variant tussen de stoep en een pilaar van de ophaalbrug bij mij in de straat. – – – Saturday Self Challenge: From the garden The Common Hollyhock is in The Netherlands originally a gardenplant. Because of its popularity and of a warmer climate this species is now growing everywhere in cities. It is growing easily between pavement and wall. Hetzelfde huis maar dan in 1960: zie notitie (PiP) of www.ipernity.com/doc/299737/49985406 Er lijkt in die 60 jaar weinig veranderd, maar: het huis is midden jaren 80 gerestaureerd, de stoep is verbreed, de straat versmald, minder parkeergelegenheid voor auto’s maar juist meer voor fietsen, meer ruimte voor voetgangers, er zijn nieuwe huizen en kantoren gebouwd nadat een brouwerij, een papierfabriek en loodsen zijn verdwenen, de steeg naar rechts (Overhaalsgang) was doodlopend en komt nu uit op een brug, en er is meer groen. Meestal wordt gezegd dat je in een straat woont, maar ik woon op een straat, want de straat is een dijk, en de dijk heeft nog steeds een waterkerende functie. De straat is de Hoogte Kadijk, op de Kadijken. Zeer dicht bevolkt, en gelukkig (nog) niet vermorzeld door alomtegenwoordige toeristen. Een rijke geschiedenis, en veel rijksmonumenten. The street is de Hoogte Kadijk. Very densely populated, and, I am very glad to say, not (yet) crushed and swamped by omnipresent tourists. A rich history, and many national monuments. Verder bewerkt in zwart-wit, curven aangepast en bijgesneden zodat de 1 er slechts deels maar nog wel herkenbaar op staat. De foto bestaat uit drie verticale elementen: het staal van de brievenbussen, de bakstenen en de glazen deur. De verticaliteit wordt in evenwicht gehouden door de brievenbussen en de bakstenen, deze horizontale beweging wordt afgesloten door de verticale deur rechts. Achter deze deur, waarvan ik de klink expres deels heb weggelaten, zit diepte: de gang met een vierkant patroon van vloertegels. Verder zijn er sociale patronen aanwezig: krassen op het staal, waarschijnlijk van fietsen die er tegenaan worden gezet, en anti-reclame stickers: 7 van de 8 huishoudens willen geen ongeadresseerde reclame. Per huishouden scheelt dat 33 kilo papier per jaar (bron: milieucentraal, 2018). Achteraf had ik iets meer naar rechts moeten staan: ik vind de ruimte tussen de ganglamp en de muur krap. – – – The photo consists of three vertical elements: the steel of the mailboxes, the bricks en the glass door. The verticality is kept in balance by the horizontal mailboxes and the bricks, this horizontal movement is closed by the vertical door on the right. Behind this door is the depth of the photo: a hallway with a square pattern of floortiles. The handle of the door I omitted partially on purpose. There are also some social patterns: scratches on the steel, probably from bicycles which were placed against the steel. Also some stickers which indicate that no commercial folders should be delivered: 7 out 8 households do not want spam. For each household that is that a saving of 33 kilo paper a year (source: milieucentraal, 2018).
