The Sunday Challenge: sereniteit Een vrijwel lege Dam. Zelfs op zondagochtend 8 uur zijn er in normale tijden veel mensen te zien. Volgende week zondag is de laatste dag van de huidige lamlegging, erna kunnen de horeca en diverse uitgaansgelegenheden weer open, zij het op beperkte schaal. Verder ook uniek in deze tijd: er hangen regenwolken boven het koninklijk paleis en de stad, iets wat we in geen weken meer hebben gezien. – – – The Sunday Challenge: serenity A nearly empty Dam in Amsterdam. In normal times on a sundaymorning 8 o’clock even the Dam in Amsterdam is filled with people. Next week Sunday it will be the last day of the current phase of the ‘intelligent lockdown’, the Monday thereafter the horeca (hotels, restaurants, cafes) and outgoing places can be opened again, although in a limited scale. Saturday Self Challenge: architectuur Op de foto het Koninklijk Paleis op de Dam. De Dam is meestal druk bezocht maar vanwege de coronacrisis is de Dam nu vrijwel leeg. Ondanks de coronacrisis mogen we nog naar buiten, het advies om anderhalve meter afstand van elkaar te bewaren wordt deels wel opgevolgd, maar deels ook niet. Dat laatste valt niet goed te praten, maar het gedrag van sommige Amerikaanse politici is helemaal walgelijk: zij verkochten aandelen voor het instorten van de beurs terwijl zij kennis hadden van de ernst van het coronavirus terwijl dit nog niet algemeen bekend was. Deze mensen verdienen algehele quarantaine voor de rest van hun zielige leven. Gelukkig zijn er ook goede initiatieven: Het nummer ‘You’ll never walk alone’ werd simultaan uitgezonden door 183 radiostations, op inititiatief van NPO 3FM. voor iedereen die werkt om de gevolgen van de coronacrisis te verzachten en voor iedereen die eronder lijdt. www.youtube.com/watch?v=o7CA8ru3PGA – – – Saturday Self Challenge: architecture On the photo the Royal Palace on the Dam in Amsterdam. The Dam is under normal circumstances a very busy location in Amsterdam, but now it is nearly completely empty. Although there is a coronacrisis, we can still go outdoors, but it is advised to keep a distance of 1½ meter to each other. Many people do stick to this advice but unfortunately there are also many people who do not. The latter cannot be justified at all. What is reallly despicable is the behaviour of some US politicians: they sold shares just before the exchange collapsed in the knowledge that the coronacrisis would be much worse than publicly known at that time. These people earn nothing more than a complete quarantaine for the remainder of their pity life. However: there are many, many good initiatives.
