Scavenge Hunt 02/50: Gereedschap The Sunday Challenge: Dozen Een doos met kaarsen, lucifersdoosjes en een doosje waarin de kaarsenslijper meestal in zit. De kaarsenslijper zit nu aan de voet van een kaars. De foto heeft een Scandinavisch tintje: veiligheidslucifers zijn een Zweeds uitvinding, de grote doos lucifers komt uit Zweden, de kaarsenslijper komt uit Denemarken. The photo has a Scandinavian flavour: safety matches are a Swedish invention, the large box of matches is from Sweden, the candle sharpener is from Denmark. Scavenge Hunt 38/50: Een versierde kerstboom Kerstmorgen op de Dam. Net als andere keren is het op kerstochtend erg rustig en de drukte komt meestal laat op gang. Dit jaar is dat echter anders. - - - Scavenge Hunt 38/50: A decorated christmastree Christmas morning on the Dam in Amsterdam. Like other times it is calm on Christmas morning and later on the day it becomes quite busy. Atlantis is een tijdelijk kunstwerk in het kader van het Amsterdam Light Festival. Thema van dit jaar is ‘disrupt’ (verstoring). Dit werk toont een goed mogelijke toekomst van veel wereldsteden, met name die vlak boven of onder de zeespiegel liggen. Deze steden worden verbeeld door enkele van hun bekende wolkenkrabbers. Het werk is gemaakt door het Zweedse kunstenaarsduo Utskottet. De boodschap van kerst staat in schril contrast met dit. In de ochtend van Eerste Kerstdag heb ik deze foto genomen. Ik had gehoopt dat de lichten op dit tijdstip gedoofd waren (zoals de andere kunstwerken van het festival), maar dat bleek niet het geval. Wel kon ik profiteren van de stilte van Kerstmorgen: weinig publiek en slechts één vroege rondvaartboot. ‘s Avonds vaart een hele file aan boten langs dit en andere kunstwerken van dit festival. Theme of this year is ‘disrupt’. This work is showing a very well possible future of many world cities, especially those just above or under sealevel. These cities are depicted by some of their well known skyscrapers. The work was made by the Swedish art duo Utskottet. The message of Christmas is in stark contrst with this. In the morning of First Christmas Day I took this photo. I hoped the lights were switched off at this time of the day (just like the other works of art of this festival) but this was not the case. However, I could take advantage of the fact that there were only a few people around and only one early touring boat. In the evening it’s just rush hour, a whole row of boats are sailing behind each other along the artworks of this festival. Op de foto het Scheepvaartmuseum in Amsterdam. Op de muren wordt de lichtkunst ‘shadow-scapes’ van de Zuid-Afrikaanse kunstenaar Marcus Neustetter geprojecteerd. In de werkelijkheid zie je dit kunstwerk niet zoals het hier op de foto staat: de silhouetten worden in wisselende belichtingen op de muren geprojecteerd. Links van het museum ligt een replica van het VOC-schip ‘Amsterdam’. Achter de linkermast schijnt de opkomende maan. Gefotografeerd op 25 december 2018. Kerst doe-het-zelf pakket. Ik voelde mij net het mannetje van de instructie van een Ikea-bouwpakket .
