In 1981 hadden de Stars on 45 verschillende wereldhits met hun discomedleys van de Beatles, Abba, Stevie Wonder en de Rolling Stones. Onder het mom van ‘beter goed gejat dan slecht bedacht’ maakten het Royal Philharmonic Orchestra en Louis Clark de serie ‘Hooked on Classics’: hetzelfde principe maar dan met klassieke muziek. Deze serie is zeer berucht onder muziekliefhebbers van alle soorten. De Engelse koningin vond van niet: Louis Clark werd later ridder en het orkest kon de titel ‘koninklijk’ houden. Pieces of well known songs by the Beatles, Abba, Stevie Wonder and the Rolling Stones and many others were hooked together with an underlying discobeat. Under the disguise of ‘better well pinched than badly devised’ the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Louis Clark came up with the same thing: they hooked well known pieces classical music together with a discobeat. This series was named ‘Hooked on Classics’and became very infamous under music lovers of all kind. However, the English queen did not disapprove: the orchestra could keep the title ‘royal’ and Louis Clark was knighted.
