Tot in de jaren 80 of 90 was het gebruikelijk om oude panden te zien die werden ondersteund door dikke houten balken. Die balken stonden vaak ook op de stoep. Meestal was dit vanwege verzakking, de bouwvallige staat van het huis, de slechte staat van de fundering, of een combinatie hiervan. Het pand wachtte vaak op restauratie of sloop. Tot mijn verbazing zag ik zoiets opnieuw aan de Nieuwe Keizersgracht 15-19. Tevens staat het pand leeg. Oorspronkelijk is dit pand gebouwd rond 1725. Midden jaren 60 is dit pand gerestaureerd, en rond 1991 van binnen gerenoveerd. Na deze renovatie heb ik in één van de kamers gewoond en voelde toen al dat het pand niet helemaal recht stond, maar dat is in oude Amsterdamse panden normaal. Op de foto het gehele pand. This was because of subsidence, dilapidated state of the property, the bad state of the foundations, or a combination of these. The property waited for restauration or demolition. I was surprised I see this again, this time at the Nieuwe Keizersgracht 15-19. Also the property is not lived in. Originally these houses were built around 1725. Mid 1960s it was restaurated, and in 1991 it was renovated on the inside. After this renovation I lived in one of the rooms. Then I felt the house was not completely horizontal, but that is quite usual in old Amsterdam houses. On the photo all the three houses.
