It had been operated by BOAC and British Eagle but retains the colors of the last operator, Monarch Airlines. Donated to the society by Monarch Airlines and flown to Duxford in 1975. This photo was taken by a Kowa Super 66 medium format film camera and Kowa 1:4.5/110 lens with a Zenza Bronica 67mm SY48•2C(Y2) filter using Kodak 400 TRI-X film, the negative scanned by an Epson Perfection V600 and digitally rendered using Photoshop.

Airspeed Ambassador 2

The only surviving Ambassador; operated by British European Airlines (BEA) from 1952 to 1958, it was then used by the Royal Jordanian Air Force as a VIP aircraft. It was bought by DAN-AIR in 1963 and operated until 1971 when it went on display at Lasham Airfield. It was donated to the Duxford Aviation Society in 1986 and moved to Duxford, still painted in Dan-Air markings.

Monarch Airlines

On that rare swelteringly hot day in Duxford, I recommend sitting on this bench and requesting that they fire up the props for a bit of fan-action. Formerly operated by BOAC and British Eagle but retains the colors of its last operator, Monarch Airlines.

Corralled Tank

The nature of mankind makes it difficult to corral such beasts of war.
