Rock Monster

It has been seven and a half years since that fateful day . . . Nash and I were hiking up a trail to an enchanted dwarf cypress forest on Carson Ridge when suddenly a vicious rock monster, lured by the tie-dye shirt, lunged through the ground's surface and grabbed Nash, attempting to swallow him whole. Without thinking, I grabbed my camera and shouted, "Smile!!" - and, when the monster complied, Nash scrambled to safety. We continued our journey, now wary of the formidable mythical beings that exist within the fringes of these magical woods. This photo was taken by a Zenza Bronica S2 medium format film camera and NIKKOR-H 1:3.5 f=5cm lens with a Kowa L39•3C(UV) ø67 filter using Kodak Portra 160 [220] film, the negative scanned by an HP Scanjet G4050 photo scanner and digitally rendered using Photoshop.
