Floral Offering

I offer you a symbolic sign of Spring. To produce such a sweet blossom there is the distinct chance of some painful moments, however . . . This photo was taken by a Hasselblad 500C medium format film camera with a Carl Zeiss Sonnar 1:4 f=150mm lens with a Kowa L39•3C(UV) filter attached to a 21mm extension tube using Kodak Portra 160 film, the negative scanned by an Epson Perfection V600 and digitalized with Photoshop.

Is there a ray of hope for the future? This photo was taken by a Hasselblad 500C film camera with a Carl Zeiss Distagon 1:4 f=50mm T* lens and Hoya Infrared R72 ø67 filter using Rollei Retro 400S film, the negative scanned by an Epson Perfection V600 and digitally rendered with Photoshop.

Some Like it Hot

The Sonoran Desert comes to Stanford. It appears that climate change is altering the nature of this University campus. No problem . . . the appropriate landscaping is now in place! www.youtube.com/watch?v=Md7MYS06Tdw Robert Palmer - Some Like it Hot and just for fun - www.youtube.com/watch?v=NeJ3r2iC5jU This photo was taken by a Hasselblad 500C medium format film camera and Carl Zeiss Distagon 1:4 f=50mm T* lens with a Tiffen Orange 15 filter using Adox CHS 100II film, the negative scanned by an Epson Perfection V600 and digitalized by Photoshop.

Nestlings

My utmost respect goes out to the mother that laid these and the parents that incubated them. Being a parent can be painful at times . . . This photo was taken by a Hasselblad 500C and Carl Zeiss Sonnar 1:4 f=150mm lens attached to a 10mm extension tube with a Kowa L39 3C(UV) filter using Kodak Portra 160 film, the negative scanned by an Epson Perfection V600 and digitally rendered with Photoshop.

Natural Barrier

17 Jun 2016 13 10 711
A botanical garden without a fence to protect it's rare plants from inquisitive visitors? Upon closer inspection there may indeed be a very effective fence here created by the cacti themselves - in fact, one that does not require a "Trespassing Prohibited" sign. The penalty for breaching the barrier is painful enough . . .

Thorny

This fellow has quite a sharp wit and has the ability to get under one's skin. Before you become too angry, though, he has brought you flowers . . . This photo was taken by a Hasselblad 500C and Carl Zeiss Sonnar 1:4 f=150mm lens attached to a 21mm extension tube with a Kowa L39 3C(UV) filter using Kodak Portra 160 film, the negative scanned by an Epson Perfection V600 and digitally rendered with Photoshop.

Mummified

Mummification is "alive and well" in the cactus world . .
