Repack

Fairfax, the small town where I live, north of the Golden Gate Strait, is home to the mountain bike. In 1970 mechanics modified street bikes to handle the rigors of mountain trail racing. Clubs were formed around the San Francisco Bay Area and competitive races were held in the mountainous terrain adjacent to Fairfax. The Repack Fire Road which featured a 425 meter ascent/descent was the favorite course. The Mountain Bike Hall of Fame Museum and several monuments commemorate this history, now famous worldwide. www.youtube.com/watch?v=KwvWtZl2ICY Bicycle Race (I Want to Ride My Bicycle) Queen This photo was taken by a Kiev 88C medium format film camera and MIR-26B 3.5/45mm lens using Kodak Portra 160 film, the negative scanned by an Epson Perfection V600 and digitalized with Photoshop.
