If any intruders are not tripped up by the perimeter fence, they will have to scale the walls of this imposing fortress! This photo was taken by a Yashica Electro 35CC rangefinder film camera with a COLOR-YASHINON DX 1:1.8 f=35mm lens using Kodak 135 daylight film, the negative scanned by an HP Scanjet G4050 and digitally rendered with Photoshop.

Chan Chan

My father used to exclaim in disgust, "Well, that went over like a lead ball over a Mud Fence", when things went wrong. The builders of the ancient Chimú city of Chan Chan near Trujillo, Peru might elicit a similar response if they could get a look at the state of their capital now. This photo from the archives was taken with a Yashica ELECTRO 35CC and a COLOR-YASHINON DX 1:1.8 f=35mm lens using Kodak 135 daylight negative film, the negative scanned with a HP Scanjet G4050 and restored and digitalized with Photoshop tools.

As pretty as a . . . mud fence. This photo was shot from a Yashica ELECTRO 35CC with a COLOR-YASHINON DX 1:1.8 f=35mm lens, scanned by an HP Scanjet G4050 from a Kodak 135 negative and digitalized (and restored) with Photoshop

Tomb Raider

In August 1975 a friend and I explored the ridge tops high above the archaeological site of Tierradentro, Colombia. As we strolled along the pathway we discovered a grim hidden secret. Numerous ancient tombs along the ridge line had been callously broken into and looted and left open to the elements. I used my Yashica Electro 35CC to record my overland journey, typically visitors attractions and landscapes, but never a crime against the archaeological heritage of a nation until then. The desecration of these 1,500 year old tombs likely yielded a few silver and gold objects left with the dead. We asked some of the staff in the "main archaeological site" below in the valley about the grave robbers. From their "Cat that ate the canary" expressions we decided to not push too hard. As tourist "hippy" backpackers we had no authority to do much other than keep our mouths shut. Camera: Yashica ELECTRO 35CC - COLOR-YASHINON DX 1:1.8 f=35mm lens - Kodak 135 color slide film - Scanned by an Epson Perfection V600 - Digital restoration project of photo archive Date of photos: August 14, 1975

Street Vendor

I was fascinated by the sights on the streets of cities that I visited as an overland adventure traveler in a 'past lifetime'. Shot from a Yashica ELECTRO 35CC with a COLOR-YASHINON DX 1:1.8 f=35mm lens this Kodak negative was scanned by an HP Scanjet G4050 and digitally rendered with Photoshop.

Embellishing one's body with tattoos is nothing new. Nature has been decorating and adorning every kind of surface since time began. This old archived image was shot from a Yashica ELECTRO 35CC is from a 35mm Kodak slide and was scanned by an HP Scanjet G4050 and digitally restored.
