This early electronic musical instrument invented in Russia made it's way to the USA after the Bolshevik revolution. My favorite application was Hollywood's use of it in eerie movie soundtracks such as, The Day the Earth Stood Still. Housed as a display in the Exploratorium Interactive Science Museum of San Francisco, visitors are allowed to play the instrument by passing their hands above and next to the antennas. Note that the electronics of this era were housed in the finest polished teak and mahogany!
This photo was taken by a Kowa/SIX medium format film camera and KOWA 1:2.8/85 lens using Kodak Portra 800 film, the negative scanned by an Epson Perfection V600 and digitally rendered with Photoshop.
