When I stroll through the nearby redwood preserve, Roy's Redwoods, I return home with a sore neck from looking upwards . . . This photo was taken by an Asahi Pentax 6 X 7 medium format film camera and Super Multi-Coated Takumar/6X7 1:4.5/75 lens using Kodak Portra 400 film, the negative scanned by an Epson Perfection V600 and digitally rendered with Photoshop.

Some people will see this as a decomposing fallen redwood. I, however, am convinced that it is the petrified remains of Big Bird's prehistoric ancestor. The search continues for fossils of the archaic ancestors of Oscar the Grouch and particularly, The Cookie Monster. I shall keep you all informed of further discoveries . . . This image was taken with a Pentax 6 X 7 medium format film camera with a Super-Takumar/6X7 1:2.4/105mm lens using Kodak Portra 400 film, scanned by an Epson Perfection V600 and digitally rendered with Photoshop.

I was very fortunate that this drowsy cat had just eaten (a digital photographer) and let me shoot this photo and pass unmolested. This image was taken with a Pentax 6 X 7 medium format film camera with a Super-Takumar/6X7 1:2.4/105mm lens using Kodak Portra 400 film, scanned by an Epson Perfection V600 and digitally rendered with Photoshop.

Don't be concerned. They only hunt at night. This image was taken with a Pentax 6 X 7 medium format film camera with a Super-Takumar/6X7 1:2.4/105mm lens using Kodak Portra 400 film, scanned by an Epson Perfection V600 and digitally rendered with Photoshop.

Built to survive even a devastating burn, this ancient coastal redwood slowly heals itself from a fire that swept through this grove 100 years ago. This image was taken with a Pentax 6 X 7 medium format film camera with a Super-Multi-Coated-Takumar/6X7 1:3.5/55mm lens using Kodak Portra 400 film, scanned by an Epson Perfection V600 and digitally rendered with Photoshop.
