From the Million Dollar Highway (U.S.550) just below Red Mountain Pass (11,018 ft/3,358 m) is an impressive view of Chicago Peak which is within the San Juan National Forest just northeast of Telluride. The road ahead passes through an old silver mining region and the remains of the Idarado Mine before plunging precipitously down the Uncompahgre Gorge towards Ouray. This photo was taken by a Hasselblad 500C medium format film camera with a Carl Zeiss Distagon 1:4 f=50mm T* lens and B+W 67E KR15 2.3x filter using Rollei RPX 25 film, the negative scanned by an Epson Perfection V600 and digitally rendered with Photoshop.
