Borobudur Wall Panel

20 Apr 2022 6 4 266
The temple monument comprises six square platforms topped by three circular platforms and is decorated with 2,672 relief panels and 504 Buddha statues. The facts behind it’s abandonment remain a mystery. It is not known when active use of the monument and Buddhist pilgrimage to it ceased. This photo was taken by a Yashica Electro 35CC rangefinder film camera with a COLOR-YASHINON DX 1:1.8 f=35mm lens using Kodak 135 daylight film, the negative scanned by an HP Scanjet G4050 and digitally rendered with Photoshop.

Batak Toba Sumatra Village

10 Jan 2022 10 14 304
The Christian Batak culture of Lake Toba is strikingly different from the rest of the island. Stone furniture next to the steep roofs of ornate houses are characteristic of the architectural style of these people. Their houses are raised with the lowest level used as a pen for their animals. This photo was taken by a Yashica Electro 35CC and COLOR-YASHINON DX 1:1.8 f=35mm lens using Kodak 135 daylight film, the negative scanned by an HP Scanjet G4050 and digitally rendered with Photoshop.

Leggy

To the distress of my sister, I maintained a collection of exotic pets as a child. Even as a young adult I found this millipede irresistible, naming him Leggy and training him to walk the circus tightrope. This 1974 photo was taken by a Yashica ELECTRO 35CC rangefinder film camera and COLOR-YASHINON DX 1:1.8 f=35mm lens, the negative scanned by an HP Scanjet G4050 and digitally rendered with Photoshop.

Lake Toba Sumatra Indonesia

06 Jun 2013 1 414
Lake Toba is a relatively difficult overland journey but worth the hardship. It is an equatorial volcanic highland crater lake with an enormous central island, Samosir. The tropical climate is moderated by the altitude and the terrain is rugged and beautiful. This ideal location was a significant stop on the route taken by adventurous overland trekkers as they made their way towards Thailand and India with Europe as the ultimate destination (or in reverse to Australia). The beauty and tranquility of this location warranted at least a week or ten days for rest and rejuvenation before continuing on the trail. This image was taken with a Yashica ELECTRO 35CC. The negative was scanned with an HP Scanjet G4050 and restored with multiple Photoshop operations.
