This is how Luang Prabang appeared in mid-1974 during an uneasy truce between the Pathet Lao and Royalist forces as viewed from the hilltop temple overlook at Wat Chom Si. I was a rare tourist in this beautiful city at this period of time. Shot with a Yashica ELECTRO 35CC, the negative was scanned with an HP Scanjet G4050 and digitally rendered in Photoshop.

Mekong River Golden Triangle

31 May 2013 1 399
A minor crossing of the Mekong River from Laos to Thailand in the Golden Triangle. I flew Royal Laotian Airways (consisting of a single DC3 aircraft) into Ban Hat Tai from Luang Prabang. Travelers continued into Thailand crossing the Mekong River by small wooden boats and then bus to the nearest major town, Chiang Rai. It was a grand adventure. This 1974 image was taken with a Yashica ELECTRO 35CC. The negative was scanned with an HP Scanjet G4050 and restored with multiple Photoshop operations.
