Roadways in Thailand are filled with shrines such as the one pictured in this roundabout. Many drivers stop momentarily to pass through the chain link fence to place alms.

Mekong River Golden Triangle

A minor crossing of the Mekong River from Laos to Thailand in the Golden Triangle. I flew Royal Laotian Airways (consisting of a single DC3 aircraft) into Ban Hat Tai from Luang Prabang. Travelers continued into Thailand crossing the Mekong River by small wooden boats and then bus to the nearest major town, Chiang Rai. It was a grand adventure.
