If you're on the fence, you can't decide something. You're torn between two options. If you're standing at the ice cream counter, not sure if you should get chocolate or vanilla, you're on the fence. Being on the fence means you really just can't decide.

Film cameras and old cannons have a lot in common. Great care was/is needed to aim and focus/calculate range before firing. Nowadays, anyone can simple press a button and the result is automatic . . .

In the Plaza of Sonoma is a plaque commemorating an 1846 revolt by Yanqui settlers who captured the Mexican garrison here and declared the Bear Flag Republic .
The Mexican governor sent 55 men to attempt to crush the rebellion, but General José Castro's forces were defeated at the Battle of Olompali.
