The Église Saint-Lambert (Saint-Lambert Church) is the parish church of the village of Sippenaeken. It is located on a hill above the valley of the river Geul. This classical-style building was built between 1840 and 1841. The brick structure rests on a base of sandstone and limestone. An octagonal spire surmounts the square tower. Although the outside of the church is quite simple, I was pleasantly surprised by the interior (even with the red-white corona-ribbons on the pews) with its beautiful altar.

The current parish church Chiesa di San Giovanni Battista (Church of San Juan Bautista) was built between the year 1244 and 1307. It was remodeled in the Baroque period and more recently between 1963 and 1964. The facade , which dates from 1307, is made of alternating vestments of white marble and dark green serpentine. The central rose window in white marble is a splendid example of ornate Gothic. The lace-like ornamentation shows from the central button, eighteen smooth and twisted columns. The interior structure has a basilica plan and a division of three naves and for its characteristics, represents a pure Genoese Gothic style. The altar greater and the masonry wood , were commissioned in 1734. The Chiesa di San Giovanni Battista is one of the oldest churches in Cinque Terre.

The Sint-Martinuskerk is a Neo-Gothic cross basilica with two towers. The church was designed by architect Caspar Franssen and built in the period 1911-1913. The paintings in the interior were designed by Hans Mengelberg and executed by Johannes Cornelis Wilbrink. The retable of the beautiful Flemish high altar - Retabel van Cuijk - was made by Hendrik van der Geld for a church in Duisburg, but eventually ended up in Cuijk. The side altars and piëta are also by Van der Geld. The church has an organ dating back to the mid 17th century. In 1945, the church was heavily damaged by acts of war committed by the retreating German army on the other side of the river Maas. The damage could be repaired (interior and exterior). In 2009, a major restoration of the church began and was completed in 2011.
