This Richardson's Groundsquirrel was one of the first ones I had seen this spring. Taken at Inglewood Bird Sanctuary on 16 April 2013. Poor things, finding snow still on the ground.

We saw this rather beautiful Golden-mantled Groundsquirrel up at Grassi Lakes in Kananaskis a few weeks ago. A very friendly little thing! We don't get these in the city - the closest thing in looks in the city are the little Chipmunks.
