I'm glad I checked in the Rose section at my local Safeway the other day. Came across this single Rose and knew I wanted to take it home and photograph it. Took this quick shot of it, but am just not getting time to try again! Hope it doesn't die too soon.

This beautiful Great Gray Owl was busy hunting, but every once in a while would give a quick glance in my direction. Seen NW of Calgary, on 28 March 2013. (No cropping, but 48x zoom.)

This is one of the Great Gray Owls in the aviary at the Calgary Zoo, and she has recently had two adorable babies. These owls are rare to uncommon year-round in Alberta. I have seen several in the wild, but nowhere near this close.

Took this almost two years ago south of the city, at a place called William's Coulee. I first caught sight of the beautiful butterfly and was surprised that it didn't fly away as I slowly approached. When I got close, I saw the reason. It was this Crab Spider's lunch!
