The purity of white

Photographed this beautiful flower at the Reader Rock Garden late afternoon on 25 June 2014. Drove there on my way home from a volunteer shift, as I wasn't all that far away. The sky had darkened and I was expecting it to rain by the time I got there, but the sun came out (along with the wind). Not sure of the ID for this daisy-like flower.
The gorgeous Himalayan Blue Poppies were in bloom, too. It is always a joy to see these beautiful, large Poppies, though they seem to grow in the shade, and I never find them easy to photograph. Apparently, they are not easy to grow, either.
Elegant beauty

I'm not sure what caused the "effect" with this flower - or maybe it's just blur? Most times I visit the Reader Rock Garden, it is windy, and it always amazes me that I get any reasonably sharp photos from there. The other thing I'm not sure about is what kind of flower this is - a single Peony? Despite the slightly unpleasant thing it does to my eyes, there was just something I still liked about this photo.
This photo was taken on 24 June 2015, when I called in at the Reader Rock Garden after a volunteer shift. Really, I should have chosen a warm coloured flower instead of cold white, as it snowed overnight and is heavily overcast and dreary this morning. Temperature is -1C (windchill -5C) and humidity is 93%, and the Fog Advisory continues from yesterday. In other words, it doesn't look or sound very welcoming outside.
Yesterday, when I picked up my car from being repaired (after the accident I was involved in, but was not at fault), I got a free carwash. (Turned out that the heat shield had been damaged by the impact and that was what was causing the rattling.) Unfortunately, by the time I had run an errand or two, my car windows were fogged up badly and I suspect they may all have a covering of ice on the inside this morning, which will not be good. However, it does feel good to have a drivable car again, thank goodness.
Weird and wonderful

Can't give you an ID - will wait until you post yours, Doug : ). This was such an exciting find yesterday on our botanizing trip to Marston Creek, on the most south easterly edge of Kananaskis. When we first saw it, only part of it was visible, seen from the side, growing on a fallen log. After taking photos, Doug pulled it out completely to reveal the whole cap and stalk for identification purposes. I've never seen a mushroom like this before - makes me think of a poached egg : )
Yellow Pondlily

Two days later, I am STILL on a natural high after seeing these gorgeous, wild Yellow Pondlilies for the very first time. We spent a full day on Thursday botanizing the Bentz Lake Natural Area, north of Calgary and west of Sundre, and these Yellow Pondlilies were growing near the edge of the lake. To get to them from the forest where we were exploring, we had to make our way through a very watery bog, LOL. Apart from one small mishap that left one friend soaked to his upper thighs, we managed it with only soaking wet feet. This native, aquatic member of the Water-lily family grows in lakes and ponds June to August. The yellow flower is 4-7 cm across, has 6 yellow, petal-like sepals and several small, inconspicuous petals.
Today, I was out with five friends, exploring and botanizing (recording all flora and fauna seen) the forest of Bragg Creek Provincial Park, west of Calgary. A perfect day weatherwise as well as far as enjoyment and sightings were concerned. Lots of mushrooms - though no brilliant red ones today, LOL!
In the darkness of the forest

An absolutely useless photo as far as being to identify these mushrooms is concerned, but I just liked the sheen and sparkle of the two caps against the dark. Seen in the forest on someone's acreage, south of the city and near Millarville.
