I like the common name of this quite spectacular fungus, growing at Brown-Lowery Provincial Park. It always seems to grow in just this one spot. It is a toothed fungus, so no gills. This particular fungus was approximately 8" across the cap, and was photographed on August 23rd.

A little group of scaly fungi growing in the Bragg Creek Natural Area, on 22nd August. August seems to have been an amazing month for finding a huge variety of fungi.

Had to dig a little way into my archives, back to 29th August, to find this pair of mushrooms that were growing along the Fullerton Loop trail in Kananaskis (off Highway 66, Elbow Falls Trail).
