Two for the prICE of one

LOL, just reminding myself that winter has its very own beauty - just wish it wasn't COLD at the same time : ) Today is a cold, grey day and the snow is falling, but unfortunately it is very fine snow, not the beautiful, fluffy stuff where you can see the individual snowflakes. Stay warm everyone - and be careful on the roads. The days are getting longer - yay!

Some beautiful winter artwork created on a melting icicle down in Fish Creek Park. At the widest part, this was about one third of an inch across : ) The sun was shining yesterday, otherwise my camera just won't take images like this. This is one of the things about winter that I love! Today is overcast, with just a patch of blue sky and I can't decide whether to drive part way across the city to try and see the Mourning Doves again. Not much point if there is no light over there, but who knows? Also, I need to go to the Walk-in Clinic to get a prescription refill. I always dislike the hours of waiting!

Mini-icicle

Another tiny icicle remnant (frozen waterdrop) that I photographed down in Fish Creek Park a few days ago - maybe a third of an inch across : ) I was on a walk there yesterday, too, and talk about a birdless morning! We only saw six species of bird, none of them out of the ordinary. Where are they all? Got a message on my computer late last night, saying thet my computer had a virus. It looked a genuine message, like a Norton Internet Security window (if I remember correctly), but something made me wonder. I couldn't get out of it at first, but eventually managed to get back to my desktop screen. Nothing (touch wood) seems to be wrong. Sure makes me wonder whether the message would have actually installed a virus if I had clicked on OK. I have so many thousands of photos that I still need to backup - was supposed to be a chore for the winter, but winter seems to be flying by, so far.

In the clutches of winter

It has been far too cold for any snow to melt, but I did find a couple of tiny icicles hanging from the railings of a bridge overlooking Fish Creek this afternoon. After three days of avoiding going out in the -27 to -29C temperatures (wind chill temperature around -40C), I braved the cold and went for a much-needed walk. It had soared to a balmy -12C (wind chill -18C) and the sun came out occasionally. Really a beautiful day today, other than being rather chilly.
