These are two small cubes of Iron Pyrites, part of a larger specimen. The sides of some of the cubes are striated, which is kind of neat. Not sure what causes the surface to be grooved - did a very rapid search yesterday, but the one and only site I glanced at was so way above my head, I left it.

This was one of the many wonderful species of fungus that we discovered while botanizing the 152-acre property of Rod Handfield, south of Calgary, west of Millarville. Just loved the grooves and the light : )
