Lol, I got a surprise when I downloaded the few photos that I'd taken at Inglewood Bird Sanctuary on 4 March 2013! Bet there isn't another photo on Flickr quite like mine! Sure, she's "just" an everyday Mallard, but .....

Taken a few days ago on the scouting trip for the Calgary Christmas Bird Count that takes place this coming Sunday, December 18th. A very overcast day, but it was amazing to walk for about four hours in such beautiful falling snow. Awful light for taking photos and the birds we saw were all far away. However, this cluster of bright red Rose Hips did co-operate : )

I thought it was fascinating to look at snow more closely after a walk in Fish Creek Park the other day. In large size, you can pick out several individual snowflakes.

If you look at this photo in large size, you should get a better look at one or two snowflakes (haven't tried it yet, so I hope it's not too blurry). It was beautiful, light, fluffy snow today and I was surprised when I got home to actually see a few individual snowflakes in one or two of my photos. I love the one centre bottom.

The kind of snow we had the other day was so fluffy and reminded me of Lux Soap Flakes. Hope I'm not dating myself!
