Drooping Japanese Anemone

I was a little bit too late to catch these pretty Japanese Anemones in prime condition a second time, but I thought the overlapping petals were still pretty. Seen at the Calgary Zoo on 6th October last year.

I'd never even heard of a Japanese Anemone until I wandered round the Calgary Zoo gardens on 14th September and came across this one. "A classic botanical misnomer, Japanese anemones aren't really Japanese at all—in fact, they were developed about 125 years ago by nurserymen in England, France and Germany, who used several Chinese species (Anemone vitifolia and A. hupehensis var. japonica) to create what we now know as A. x hybrida—an entirely man-made plant, despite its simple, unaffected appearance." I'd never heard of Japanese Anemones till a month or two ago, when I saw them in the Dorothy Harvie Gardens at the Calgary Zoo. On my last visit, a few were still blooming. Such a pale pink with a vibrant centre. Happy Thanksgiving again to everyone!
