The total package

For once, I actually got not only a flower, but also buds and LEAVES, LOL! I am a real macro person and I'm afraid that leaves tend not to find their way into most of my images - not good at all when it comes to complicated IDs, of course! Not sure what plant this is, but maybe some kind of Mallow? Seen at the Reader Rock Garden two days ago. And, hey, I got a blurry background, too : )

Mallow

If I remember correctly, this is the only place in the city where this species of plant grows. It is some type of Mallow, growing as a bush in the Union Cemetery on the hill opposite the Stampede Grounds, Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

Budding beauty

I thought the swirl of opening petals was pretty. Not sure, but I think this flower is some kind of Mallow.

Colour to cheer

Just loved the vivid colour of these flowers, which I think are some kind of Mallow. I used my Canon Powershot S3 IS for this photo - colour came out very different (deeper) from the colour in the photos I posted a while ago, taken on my Olympus C750 UZ.

Light and shadows

I took this photo last year at the Reader Rock Garden and I seem to remember that it is some kind of Mallow. Doug, are you out there?

Mallow

I was fascinated by the centres of these flowers, which I think are Mallow. I posted a closer photo of a similar flower a while ago and the centre was different - more of a spiral. I have just noticed that the flower behind, in the lower right hand corner has the different centre.

Candy-striped Pinwheel

I was fascinated by the pinwheel at the centre of some of these flowers that I saw at the Reader Rock Garden in Calgary. I believe they are from the Mallow family. The pink and white stripes reminded me of candy rock in England when I was a young girl.
