Edged in purple

Resorting to a photo I took just over a month ago - love your flowers and your Tiramisu (Italian dessert), Safeway! We've had two beautiful days with temperatures somewhere around 13C-15C. The snow is melting and it CAN'T be long before flowers start blooming. Spring is a-coming!

That focussed look

Another photo taken at the Calgary Zoo, on the day when this gorgeous Great Gray Owl skimmed my head twice and my jacket sleeve once! It was perched on a tree stump, maybe 8 or 9 feet from me and caught me totally off guard when it flew "at" me! I think it just wanted to get to the other side of the path, LOL. Such a beautifully marked bird of prey. With its head lowered slightly, you get a better view of the pattern created by all those tiny feathers.

Laurel-leaved Willow catkins

Yay, spring IS here! As you can see by the blue sky, today has been a glorious day, only about 13C but it felt warmer than that to me. A perfect temperature for walking. After watching a couple of far off Tundra Swans and several distant Canvasbacks on Glenmore Reservoir this morning, I took a few shots of these beautiful catkins from a Laurel-leaved Willow (North Glenmore Park). Hard to tell from this photo, but the stems are brilliant, glowing red. Very pretty.

View with a difference

Hope you aren't getting too fed up of my Bald Eagle shots, LOL! The close photos are always taken at the Zoo (probably a good thing that I don't get THAT close to one in the wild, anyway : )). The angles, colours (especially of the background) always seem to come out differently - which leads to the temptation to upload, LOL. This particular bird was all fluffed up and seemed to be shivering. I've seen this happen before on another occasion. I wonder if this is "normal" behaviour and, if so, what is the reason?

Crinkled

A Carnation that I bought about a week before Christmas. There was just one different flower in the small bunch and really that is why I bought them - a lovely white one with red edges.

Droplets

I liked the red edging to these Begonia petals, and the water droplets, seen at the Reader Rock Garden at the end of August. Wasn't happy with the original image, so cropped it, but it still doesn't feel "right". So, I'll move on to the next photo, LOL.
