Hoverfly on European Pasque Flower

01 May 2016 7 6 430
I posted this photo immediately after posting the other two this morning, hoping that people would see my photos in the order I wanted. However, this image was still obviously barely being seen at all, so I decided to delete and repost. Apologies to the two people who had made this photo a fave! Flickr has made such a mess of view stats for some members, myself included, the last maybe month and a half to two months. Flickr has done nothing to fix this, despite many people complaining. Four days ago, on 27 April 2016, I had a volunteer shift and afterwards, as the sun was peeping through the clouds, I decided to call in at the Reader Rock Garden. There was a reasonable number of plants in bloom, including this beautiful European Pasque Flower with its tiny visitor. "Pulsatilla vulgaris (pasque flower, pasqueflower, common pasque flower, Dane's blood) is a species of flowering plant belonging to the buttercup family (Ranunculaceae). It used to be considered part of the Anemone genus, to which it is closely related." From Wikipedia. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pulsatilla_vulgaris

European Pasque Flower / Pulsatilla vulgaris

When I called in at the Reader Rock Garden on 29 April 2015, there were only a few flowers that were in bloom. These included a few Tulips, a few Hepatica that were already not in the best condition, and several other species, including this beautiful Pasque Flower. It felt so good to finally see flowers and colour, even though our 2014/2015 winter weather had been amazingly mild. Our present winter has been even milder. Pasqueflower / Pulsatilla vulgaris

This photo was taken at the Reader Rock Garden on 20 May 2015, when I called in after a volunteer shift. I always enjoy seeing the Pasqueflowers, that look fairly similar to our wild Prairie Crocus. What a mess Flickr has made of things! By creating a new system where people can automatically upload all the photos on their computer to Flickr in one batch, to me it seems pretty obvious, given how many millions of people use Flickr, that this would cause one enormous overload problem!!! I was surprised that I was able to upload all three of my new images without any problem this morning. Still have to get out of Flickr and open in a new tab each time I make any change to my photostream, such as adding tags or description. This European Pasque Flower was growing at the Reader Rock Garden recently. Similar to our wildflower, Prairie Crocus.
