Balsam or Hybrid Poplar catkins

24 Apr 2015 172
This is a macro view of colourful hybrid Poplar catkins, taken on 23 April 2015 in Fish Creek Park. When I went for a stroll around the Artisan Gardens at the eastern end of the park yesterday, I found a tree that still had its catkins in reasonable shape. The male and female catkins (flowers or reproductive parts) of hybrid poplars are usually found on separate trees. Hybrid Poplar

Taken yesterday, 6 May 2013, at Mallard Point, Fish Creek Park, when I was on a three-hour walk from Bankside to Mallard Point with birding friends. Today marks the start of our botanizing for the next five months, approximately, so life will become even more hectic and exhausting : ) So many photographs to deal with, too, including getting some of them ready to be sent to local botany people.
