Bursts of colour

This photo was taken at the Calgary Zoo yesterday, 21 September 2015. The ENMAX Conservatory butterfly house display is coming to an end. The beautiful tropical plants are beginning to fade and the number of butterfly species yesterday seemed to be down. These Chrysanthemums (?) formed an upright display, adding a bright burst of colour. Thank you to the Zoo staff who made this room such a delight to visit since spring. Really wish I had been able to get to the Zoo more than just a couple of times this year! Lots of people there yesterday, now that ILLUMINASIA, Lantern & Garden Festival has begun.

Blue

A photo from deep within my archives, taken on 14 July 2009. After yesterday's unwelcome snowfall, we need colour. Red would have been better, but I happened to come across this photo late last night, when I was browsing some files. I solved the most frustrating issue I've come across with Windows 7, at least as far as today's "daily three" are concerned, by adding the numbers 1, 2, 3, in front of the titles. This arranged the photos in the order I wanted. Doesn't solve the much bigger issue of not being able to arrange any photos in the order you want. Why Microsoft decided to take away this option must have an awful lot of people just shaking their head, not to mention extremely frustrated and very annoyed! After getting to bed between 3:30 a.m. and 4:00 a.m. the last three nights, trying to get various things to work on my new computer, I ended up sleeping in late this morning and posting my photos later than usual, ha. I'm loving the extra speed I'm getting, after finally changing from Lite Speed to High Speed 25 Internet yesterday.

Study in contrasts

Photographed at the Reader Rock Garden on 22 September 2010. Today, I set my alarm for 5:10 a.m., as I was going on a day of botanizing at a new location, but heavy, non-stop rain made us actually change our minds. Useless for taking photos, and not exactly good for ones camera. Also, it was only 4C (!!!) when I got up this morning - soaring to a balmy 7C when we were in the car, driving to the meeting place to check if we were going or not. A coffee stop was a great idea, while the five of us waited to see if the rain might clear - which it didn't. It's always disappointing when a trip is cancelled, but this is almost unheard of. On the way home, three of us called in at Tim Hortons and had a delicious combo of coffee and a breakfast, which made a very tasty and enjoyable stop. Thanks so much for the treat, Stephen, and for doing the driving! Oh, while we were at the first coffee place, a lady stopped to chat with us (she works at the place). She was so funny, telling us one joke after another, all of them simple and very cute. One that I can remember is: "What did the 0 (zero) say to the 8?" Answer: Nice belt! I have two full days of botanizing tomorrow and the following day, so will be tied up and totally exhausted, ha! I find that back to back days are just too much for me now, but, all being well, I'll survive these two days of forest walking and getting down to the ground and back up again to photograph mushrooms amd other things. Hopefully, the sun will shine and we will find some new things to add to our existing lists of flora and fauna for these two locations.
