Hoary Cress

24 Jun 2010 217
This was a new plant for us, that I happened to notice when a few of us were on a walk in Fish Creek Park, south of Highway 22X a couple of days ago. I stared and stared at it, trying to think what it was, but it just somehow looked different. Always great to see something new, though I know most of you aren't interested in wildflowers : ) "Hoary Cress (Cardaria spp.) comes under "Restricted, Noxious, and Nuisance Weeds In Alberta".... It is a perennial that spreads by seed and creeping roots. Three species of Hoary cress are found in Alberta. Each is named according to the distinct shape of the fruiting structure (pod); heart-podded, lens-podded and globe-podded hoary cress." www1.agric.gov.ab.ca/$department/deptdocs.nsf/All/faq8777 ?
