Embracing the sun

23 Aug 2014 284
The last few days here have been cold and wet, but today, the sun is finally out (well, I should say "was" out, as the sky has now clouded over). The highest the temperature got yesterday was 12°C, but most of the day it was a few degrees cooler. I don't like the heat, so cooler temperatures suit me better, but - this is summer, lol! The flower in my photo is a small, native, wild Sunflower, photographed at Griffith Woods. Taken when I was on a botany walk on 12 August 2014. I believe it is Nuttall's Sunflower / Helianthus nuttallii.

Bee on wild Sunflower

22 Oct 2009 261
A wildflower, Nuttall's (?) Sunflower, growing at Griffith Woods and being visited by a little bee all dressed to match : ) Taken on 3rd August 2008. Had intended going to get a 'Flu shot this morning, but then I wasn't sure if I was starting to come out in a slight cold. So, decided I'd better leave it and instead went to wash my mud-caked car that I hadn't washed for months. While I was sitting waiting for the person ahead fo me to finish with the soap and rinse, I realized I was getting Migraine, so it's a good job I didn't go for my 'Flu shot. Now I have a splitting headache, so not sure how much I'll be on Flickr this evening.
