It feels quite strange to be able to post any photos, but it sure feels good : ) After being without a computer for four days, I collected my old and new machines and, to my horror, discovered that there was not a single one of my thousands of photos on my new computer! The word "deleted" flashed through my mind and it wasn't till later yesterday that I was finally able to check my old computer to see if my photos were still on it. Relief flooded through me and I could physically feel my stress level plunge, lol. It took one and a half days of crawling under my computer table to plug and unplug the ever-growing tangle of cords to reach the point where I could actually use my old computer. What a nightmare! To say that I am not impressed with the service I got from the store this week is an understatement. Six years ago, the same people had done such a great job of transferring all the data from an old to a new computer, which is why I went back to them. However, now that the weekend is over and the store will be open again, I have to phone them and ask why they didn't transfer all my images. Tomorrow, I have minor surgery, so all this was supposed to have been done by now, so that I could spend my recovery time editing photos, learning Windows 7, etc.. I knew I would not be able to take or collect the heavy, awkward to carry hard drives or be bending and stretching under my desk for a while, so I am really annoyed, to say the least. For now, though, I am SO relieved that I was finally able to get the new monitor hooked up to the old computer, so that it works. Of course, someone who knows everything about computers would have solved all this many hours sooner : ) Photo above was taken on 4 September 2013 at the Reader Rock Garden. Though the sun is shining this morning, it's -23C (windchill -30C) and it looks so cold out there. Have no choice but to go out, as I have not been able to do any food shopping and I need to get enough to last me a couple of weeks. Also, I have planned to meet friends at a local park today (brrr!), as it will be the last chance I get for a while.

Happened to notice this leaf stuck to a narrow tree trunk when I went for a walk in Fish Creek Park, on 26 August 2013. Glad of the tiny patch of bright orange lichen growing near it. It's another brutally cold day today, just like yesterday. I have a birding walk with friends, so yet another day of bundling up with endless layers of clothing and having to scrape the ice off my car windows. Stay warm, everyone!

Took this photo way back on 1st November and wasn't sure it was really worth posting. Decided I would after all, even though today has been a beautiful sunny day, around +7C - yes, that's PLUS 7C!!! Sure beats -20C and -30C! Guess I should add that this is the edge of a dead rose petal : ) After a bitterly cold month of October, took this photo rather in desperation and while playing around with my Raynox lens, LOL.

Apologies to Doug for "stealing" his icon, LOL! I forgot all about posting this image - I uploaded a different shot of this brilliant orange fungus ages ago, but its background was green, I think, with trees or bushes in the background. Photographed on 14th October 2008, so just over a year ago. Doug, it will probably give you a weird feeling when you see "your icon" posted : ) Thanks to Doug for the ID, Pycnoporus cinnabarinus, "Cinnabar-red Polypore". Found in Griffith Woods on 14th October 2008, just over a year ago. I did it again - why do I do it?? After a volunteer shift this afternoon, I decided to dash just southwest of the city to try and get a few sky shots, as we had a pretty good build up of cloud. Now, just a week after washing my car, it is once again covered in mud from the muddy, snowy (which I hadn't expected), gravel side roads. As often seems to happen, the sky looked more dramatic in person than in a photo - but, knowing I will have to wash my car again so soon, I will find at least one photo to upload - if it kills me, LOL!
