LOL, a more accurate view of this small Anglewing butterfly, of it sitting on friend David's finger! For some reason, butterflies seem to like being on his hands : ) Seen on 22nd August in West Bragg Creek Provincial Park. Not sure if it's a Green Comma.

Pretty but poisonous

This is an Amanita muscaria, Fly Agaric, seen on 20th August at West Bragg Creek Provincial Park. Though it is very attractive, it is also poisonous.

Twistedstalk

These red, ovoid, inedible, hanging berries (1-1.5 cm long) almost seemed to glow in the dark of the forest, in West Bragg Creek Provincial Park five days ago. This native plant is a member of the Lily family and grows in moist, wooded areas, June-July. The tiny, whitish green flowers are exquisite, growing on jointed, bent stalks that originate in the leaf axils.

What is this?

This was such an exciting sight on Saturday, when a handful of us went to botanize West Bragg Creek Provincial Park! It was maybe half the size shown in my photo. I am hoping that someone might be able to suggest an ID for this fungus - a friend did wonder if it might be some kind of False Morel. Just so pretty - almost like a tiny, crystalized Rose : ) I LOVE seeing new things!
