Camera shy

We saw something like 500 Bohemian Waxwings down at Burnsmead the other day. They would land in the tree tops and then they would all fly down to the ground and take mouthfuls of snow, en masse. Too many branches and bushes in the way for any decent shots, but this one did land on this low branch - though this pose is not the best, LOL. However, it was this or nothing, so I'm going with "this", as I rarely get to see Bohemians this close. Unlike a few of my other Bohemian photos, this bird is a typical, sleek one, not puffed up against the cold.

In the cold

Not the greatest photo, but I don't usually get the chance to see Bohemian Waxwings close to. This image was taken on 30th January 2008, when I went with a group of friends to Lake Louise. It was bitterly cold and three very puffed-up Waxwings were in a bush next to the building where we had lunch. My other photos turned out better than this one, but I decided I would add this one after all.

Feasting on berries

A photo taken quite a time ago, when I went to Lake Louise with friends. We stopped for lunch in a place near the lake and three of these very cold, puffed-out Bohemian Waxwings were feeding on berries in a small tree. Normally, these birds are very sleek and stream-lined, but not that day.
