Alberta

Whenever I see a photo like this one, I usually sigh and think ... Alberta : ) It was taken a little in desperation yesterday, when I drove a few of the roads north and south of Highway 22X, going westwards towards the mountains. Wasn't finding much to photograph at all. Our weather has been horrid, but the sun did come out for a while later yesterday. As I type, Calgary is under a Wind Warning, and we are going through a real wind storm. Have visions of my roof being lifted off, I'm in such an exposed place. Spent this morning walking in South Glenmore Park, by the Glenmore Reservoir, wearing a fleece jacket and my thick winter jacket ... brrr! Temperatures will be around 2C or 4C for the next few days. Nothing to photograph this morning, so I decided to go over to the Zoo for the afternoon, where I attempted to take photos even though it was far too windy for much success. Winter is definitely here - possibly a bit of snow again overnight.

Not quite sure

Wasn't sure whether to post this image, as it is rather blurry - don't bother to look at it in large size, LOL! However, it is yet another little moment captured in an amazing few minutes mid June. These young Red Foxes were just so beautiful!

Winter star

Snapped a few quick shots along one of the gravel roads just south of the city on 27th January. I love it when the sun shines on the snow. I still can't get used to seeing hay bales covered in white.

Remembering Canola

How I miss seeing glorious Canola fields in full bloom. Came across this photo while browsing my files and thought I'd post it. Had to scrape ice off all my car windows again this morning, and our weather is about to change for the worse. Looks like we could be getting some snow. I phoned to make an appointment to take my car in to get a remote starter installed, but have to wait a few more days yet. Just can't face having to scrape off ice for the next few months - last winter, I seemed to be doing it all the time and tended to sometimes stay home rather than face the ice. I'm hoping that a remote starter will at least start the ice melting before I try and scrape.

Our Alberta skies

This was taken on 17th October, when I dashed out along a few muddy, gravelly side roads just outside the city, because the sun had finally just come out briefly. I love seeing a field of hay bales at this golden time of year, along with a sky full of interesting clouds. I LOVE Alberta (except for the bitter cold and snow/ice)!!!

Silhouettes

I saw this beautiful view yesterday when I was driving a few of the tiny side roads off Highway 22X west. I believe this was along 85th St. SW. I liked the white of the nearest snowy hills and the row of bare-branched trees in the foreground. Rocky Mountains seen in the distance. It almost didn't seem "real" : )

Red on white

A bright splash of colour to brighten a rural, winter scene. I liked the black silhouette of the horse against the red. Seen along 85th St. SW, just south of Highway 22X. I love red barns, LOL!
