Slime mold

A blob of white Slime Mold growing low down on a tree trunk in the forest of West Bragg Creek Natural Area nearly two weeks ago. Slime Molds are such interesting, beautiful things if you happen to notice them and look very closely at them.

A rollercoaster mushroom

This really was a beautiful mushroom, with the rich colour of its cap and it's sparkling white, upturned gills. I found it growing at Brown-Lowery Provincial Park just over a year ago.

It's hip to be red

Need a bit of bright colour, not because our weather is cold and snowy, but just to brighten up my photostream. Today has been beautiful, getting up to around 11C, with glorious sunshine. After a walk this morning, I had a look for Prairie Crocuses, too, but could see no sign of any leaves or buds.

This Arctic Wolf shares a large enclosure with three Gray Wolves at the Calgary Zoo. She is the dominant one of the group. "The Arctic Wolf (Canis lupus arctos), also called Polar Wolf or White Wolf, is a mammal of the Canidae family, and a subspecies of the Gray Wolf. ..... The Arctic Wolf is the only subspecies of the Gray Wolf that still can be found over the whole of its original range, largely because, in their natural habitat, they rarely encounter humans."
