I love the deep, dark eyes of the Barred Owl. This one lives in the walk-through aviary at the Calgary Zoo - it's usually asleep, but I was lucky this day. This is a species of owl that I still haven't seen in the wild.

After a morning walk at Votier's Flats this morning, I decided to drive to the eastern end of Fish Creek Park and check on "my" Great Horned Owls (could only find one of them today) and try and get a few Chickadee photos - I know, Doug and Phil, I don't NEED any more : ). While I was sitting on a low log, focusing on a higher log, this beautiful Northern Flickr flew down to the end of the log. The light is almost always bad in this area, but I did manage to get a few OK shots.

DEDICATED to Doug and Phil, who both tease me mercilessly about all my Chickadee photos on Flickr, LOL! OK, guys, here's another laugh for you both : ) This little Black-capped Chickadee landed on friend Katie's hand a few days ago, when we were on a walk at Burnsmead, Fish Creek Park. They are so lovable.
