Split Gills, I think

This was quite a pretty cluster of fungi growing on a fallen log, right out in the open, at Maclean Pond, off Elbow Falls Trail in Kananaskis. This is a macro shot taken on October 18th - they were very small - and I always love coming across these fungi.

I think I'm right in saying these are Split Gill, growing on a broken-off branch. Seen on a botanizing day at the Sundre Natural Area, north west of the city. They aren't in exactly perfect condition, though the top one isn't too bad.

This tiny (zoomed in) fungus was not in the best condition, but I thought it was still OK to show how lacy the texture is. Found this one on a fallen branch in South Glenmore Park on 6th October.

A closer photo of the very tiny Split Gill fungi seen growing on a branch at Griffith Woods. The tiny "pompoms" around the edges remind me of those little white "balls" that are found in craft stores.

This photo was taken looking down on the upperside of a Split Gill fungus, seen on a walk at Griffith Woods. Really quite pretty, though I always love to see the gill pattern on the underside.
