It happens so rarely that one of these huge Variable Darner dragonflies actually lands on something. Usually, they are constantly on the go and sometimes dive bomb a person walking nearby. Darners are the biggest dragonflies that we get in Alberta and the Variable Darner is the most common of these. These very large dragonflies are part of the diet of Merlin falcons. Saw this one in Weaselhead natural area. Better seen in large size, if you have time and are interested : )
