Puffball

30 Sep 2008 118
I know it doesn't make a really inspiring photo, but I did want to add this rather fine Puffball to my Fungi of Alberta Set. There were two of these growing in the middle of a huge grassy area/lawn on an acreage south of the city, near Millarville. Looked rather like a couple of golf balls from a distance, LOL.

Ligularia dentata

I saw this plant on an acreage near Millarville, south of the city. I've never seen a flower like this before and wondered if anyone knows what it is called. Thanks, Doug (dougwaylett), for the ID!

Water Lily treat

11 Sep 2008 107
Yesterday, I went with two friends to do a repeat bio-assessment of an acreage south of the city, near Millarville. The owners have an amazing garden, including a wonderful pond. I was thrilled to bits to see an open Water Lily on it - a very different species from the ones I usually photograph in the Butterfly House at the Calgary Zoo. Some other plants in the pond had been chewed on by two Moose who are frequent visitors to this acreage. I'm so glad they hadn't nibbled on this Water Lily, LOL!

White diamond

A different kind of photo for me : ). Saw these beautiful horses today when I went with a couple of friends to do a repeat bio-assessment of an acreage south of the city. A donkey shared the field with them.

Autumn Lily pads

I liked the colours and shapes of these thin, flat Lily pads on a small pond at an acreage near Millarville (south of the city). My other photos include a gorgeous flower, but I still liked this one of just the leaves. Interestingness#375 explore2008October25

Double the pleasure

24 Sep 2008 98
Hopefully, my photos uploaded this evening will reach My Contacts. Apparently, yesterday's four images didn't show. I suspect these white Water Lilies were past their prime, but I enjoyed seeing plain white ones instead of the pretty pink ones seen last time we visited a beautiful acreage near Millarville. On Sunday, three of us went to a very nice BBQ held on this acreage. Two hundred people were expected to attend! A Nature Walk was offered, led by the two people with whom I went, and almost every person chose to join this walk!!!

Purple cluster

I couldn't make up my mind whether to post this image or not - it's "messy", but I so needed a change of colour from all my orange, yellow and browns! I don't know what this plant is called - it was growing in the garden at a beautiful acreage south of the city, near Millarville.
