Sticky Locoweed / Oxytropis borealis var. viscida

The only reason I'm posting this shot is so that I can add it to my Plants of Alberta album. Not a very easy plant to photograph, I find, as so often there are a number of dead flowers visible. Makes for a rather "messy" image. It was seen on 3 June 2014, growing near the path along the Bow River, in the Pine Creek Water Treatment Plant area in SE Calgary. Like the Early Yellow Locoweed that I posted yesterday, this species belongs to the Pea family (Fabaceae).

I believe I have the right ID for this plant : ) The various Locoweeds are bad enough to tell apart, but, oh, the Vetches and milkvetches! Trouble is, each photo that you see looks somewhat different, which makes everything even more confusing. Saw this plant at Bowmont Park, west end, the other day.

We saw this bright clump of Sticky Locoweed wildflowers at Beaverdam Flats yesterday. There were a lot of tiny flowers that were blue. Next to this clump was another plant of the same species, but it had mainly purple flowers.
