Golden Bean

Not the best photo, but thought I'd include it. This native, wild plant is also called Buffalobean. It's a member of the Pea family and grows in dry, sandy grasslands and open pine forests. Grows May to early June. NOTE: eating any part of this plant will cause respiratory paralysis! It adds such a bright splash of colour in so many natural areas here - very cheery and pretty.

This is one of our earliest wildflowers to bloom (May to early June). Adds a brilliant splash of colour anywhere it grows. Such a cheery yellow! Respiratory paralysis is caused if any part of this plant is eaten!

Golden bean is one of the first wildflowers to bloom here in Alberta. Always enjoy seeing these splashes of bright yellow everywhere.
