These attractive little birds are common all year round in Alberta and live in Spruce-fir and pine forests. They can be such noisy little things, with their continuous, nasal "yank-yank-yank." They don't stay a second longer than they need to grab a seed and fly off, whether here in the forest or at a garden feeder. Not the easiest of birds to photograph, for that very reason. Young Michael and his dad - if you happen to see this photo, yes, I was luckier that day than down in Weaselhead yesterday, LOL!
