Another clump of very deep purple Prairie Crocuses sen at 12 Mile Coulee. Normally, these wildflowers are pale purple/bluish/whitish, but we have now seen a couple of clusters in this much darker shade. They were so pretty. They have no petals - the purple sepals just look like petals.

This little fluffed-up Burrowing Owl is in a different place from where I usually photograph these very cute owls. This one is in an outdoor enclosure in the Canadian Wilds area, compared to the warm Conservatory. My hands were so cold that afternoon - no wonder this little guy/gal is VERY puffed up! It had just emerged from its cozy burrow : )
