She loves orange

11 May 2012 229
Though the female Mountain Bluebird lacks the amazing colour of the male, I always think she has a definite beauty of her own. The female chooses where to build a nest, so I guess this one liked one of the orange metal containers rather than a wooden nesting box. Seen NW of the city on May 4th. Not the nicest of perches, but I did get some photos of natural ones, too.

Those water droplets again

22 Dec 2009 161
Didn't take this shot very recently, but back on 12th December. Tiny waterdroplets on a Chrysanthemum petal. Haven't dared try any more supermacros since then, in case that was what has caused the dizziness/light headedness that I've had for almost a week. Not so bad today. All I accomplished today was to write two Christmas cards and package up a DVD of my photos to send to a friend. Oh, and I drove half way across the city in the snow to go to the Glamorgan Bakery. This has to be an annual treat - which I want, but definitely do NOT need, LOL! If anyone here in the city has never tried this bakery, it's certainly worth going. Be warned - their cheese buns are to die for : )

Pink-edged

I know I wrote down the name of this plant on one of the hundreds of tiny pieces of paper that clutter my computer table - no chance of finding the right piece, though : ), Seen in the Arid Room at the Calgary Zoo (before the Conservatory was pulled down to make room for a new Conservatory to be built).

Starting to curl

Though this image could certainly do with being much sharper, it shows the dying petals of an Aster flower beginning to curl. Eventually, each petal forms a tight coil.
