A Poppy for today

It didn't seem right to use an orange (not red) Poppy for my Remembrance Day tribute earlier today, which is why I used a Poppy pin instead and kept this image as just one of my "daily three". Photographed late September last year at the Reader Rock Garden.

These tiny Red-breasted Nuthatches are so light and dainty when they land on your hand. Love it when they stop for a second and look up at you.

This is one of my "usual" White-breasted Nuthatches that I see in Fish Creek Park. Looks like the male, as it has a black cap. I was quite lucky this week because there is still the odd fall leaf still hanging from a few branches to give a bit of colour to the background. Hopefully, everyone will shout "Enough is enough" when I post one Nuthatch photo too many, LOL!! As the winter becomes more severe, Chickadees and Nuthatches become two of the main subjects left to photograph.
Arrival of winter

Almost at the end of Elbow Falls Trail, Highway 66, west of the city, the meadows either side of the road were covered in snow. The distant, snow-covered peaks rose up above the fall-coloured trees, against a bright blue sky. I think the temperature was around 8C.
