This is a supermacro image of these tiny, red seedpods belonging to the Sticky False Asphodel wildflower. When they have turned bright red, they make a pretty splash of colour on a nature walk - if you happen to notice them, as they are very small (reddish-yellow, oval capsules, 5-6mm long). These seedpods were found while on a day of botanizing Elkton Bog, near Cremona, north west of Calgary on 30th July.

Not exactly a good photo for ID, but I loved the sparkling bokeh created by the sun shining on the water : ) This Sticky Asphodel plant was growing near a tiny inlet that was running into a small stream at Bow Valley Provincial Park (eastern edge of the Rocky Mountains) yesterday. Sticky Asphodel, also known as False Asphodel, is a member of the Lily family, flowering June-July, in calcareous marshes and shorelines.

These are the seed capsules of the Sticky/False Asphodel. This plant has a sticky stalk below the flower cluster.

Another small, long-stemmed wildflower that I don't often get to see. This one was at Maclean Pond, Highway 66, Elbow Falls Trail.
