Eye-catching

The sun has finally come out, late afternoon, but it has been a cold day today, with an unpleasant cold wind (which has just started to pick up). Had a routine dental appointment this afternoon and when I got back home, I noticed that the first flower on my little Christmas Cactus had fully opened. Thought I'd make the most of it - after all, a day without using my camera is not my favourite kind of day, LOL! Hope it sends out lots of cheer : ) Rebecca (Red-Star) - this is to celebrate your successful, but bittersweet, house sale.

Squished and fluffed

A couple of friends very kindly invited me to go with them today to see if we could find the Northern Hawk Owls. No sign of any of them. Another friend told us that he had just been talking with the owner of a house that is at that location, and apparently the owls have only been seen maybe twice in the last week. So, we are not sure what is going on. Anyway, I decided to upload this shot taken on 28th February - this little guy/gal was perched on top of this VERY tall pole, so had to crop : ) Kind of looks cute, puffed up against the cold. LOL, my first thought was that s/he looks as if s/he's sitting under one of those old Hair Salon hairdryers - no idea if they still use those things.

Simplicity

A friend very kindly invited me to go south of the city today to a place called Frank Lake. The weather was overcast for a good part of the morning but the sun did finally come through just before we returned home. We saw a great variety of birds, which was a real treat. Most were far away in the distance, but I have been able to bring them a little closer with cropping. I just liked the patterns made by the reeds in the Lake and their reflections.
